We don’t believe we can make it any clearer than that.
Please do not confuse copyright with publishing rights. They are different.
If you decide to publish through Abela Publishing, you will be expected to sign a contract. However, we would strongly advise that you obtain independent legal advise before signing ANY contract with any company or person or organisation.

Protecting your Copyright
In order to ensure no-
1. Ensure the TITLE of the work and a "BY YOUR NAME" is printed on the front page
2. Ensure you also type "COPYRIGHT © THE YEAR" it immediately below this.
3. Print the entire manuscript and mail it to yourself via Special Delivery or Registered
Mail. Even better post two copies -
4. On receipt, DON'T OPEN THE ENVELOPE! Its imperative it stays sealed. This protects
your copyright.
5. Put them in a safe place like a safe or safety deposit box at your bank.
6. If you ever need to prove your ownership, simply produce the unopened envelope to
your legal counsel.
Films & Television
If your book gets selected to be made into a film or a TV series, as your publisher, we reserve the right to claim 5% (being the publisher's share) of the rights and/or royalties leaving you with the majority.
Whether or not you accept any deal will be up to you. However, we will provide the legal expertise to assist with the negotiation of any contract and we will build a team around you with the primary aim of advising you and protecting your interests throughout any negotiations that take place.
