Excerpt from A TALE OF TWO TURTLES
This time there was no mistake and everyone hit the beach. Next they hit the water and boy, did that feel good. They were equipped with strong flippers and getting around was much easier in the ocean.
Because they swam close to the surface they had to avoid the usual airborne suspects. Then in deeper water there were of course plenty hungry fish. Fish seemed to be hungry all the time, which is bad news for appetiser-sized turtles.
There were the occasional traditional trophy collectors.
I hope no one eats turtle soup anymore?
Not to mention storms, rips, boats and their propellers. The list just goes on and on.
And what about sharks!
The reef was a great place to hang out. There was plenty to eat like jellyfish, small squid and yummy stuff that grew on coral outcrops.
Web was safe from big sharks. Reef sharks didnt bother with her as shed grown enough to look after herself, but she had to avoid the occasional groping groper.
She met some of her buddies and distant cousins: the hawksbills, the flat and leather backs and the tough old loggerheads.
Yes, things were going along swimmingly (which is how turtles like it).
